Generally reserved and quiet, Zhang is an individual who tends to express little emotion. Very little phases him and very little will make him retaliate without rationale behind it, making him quite the patient person. It takes being incessant to make him particularly irritated. He is very dutiful and can usually not be swayed from not completing his jobs. Zhang is also quite analytical of things, usually taking a good amount of time determining the best course of action or determining what makes things tick. He seems to have a very strong sense of morals as well.

Zhang had been a proud fighter trained among a clan of martial artists in the Jade Imperium. As is the nature of the species he and his family were, they specialized in swordplay. As is the tradition of this clan, after coming of age, many would travel about the country seeking work. It was a journey all in his clan made; It was seen as a pilgrimage, a trip of self-discovery. Those who would obtain dusk stones and thus became aegislash would continue travelling until they found their destined leader as dictated by instinct. This was the life path Zhang would follow as well.

Not much would change up until the day he obtained a dusk stone. While for others, such an event would be one to praise, it was not so for Zhang. For reasons unknown, something had been off with the process and ultimately led Zhang to hiding his left eye. The power he had gained frightened him. It was something he did not wish to see become abused. From that day onwards, Zhang would become wary of other people, praying that whoever his instincts told him to seek was not unmoral. While he would continue seeking work, the Aegislash would distance himself from those he was ordered to attend to.

This was his life before the destruction brought by Yveltal and the majority of this knowledge has been lost. Since his revival, all that he recalls is that he had been a wandering swordsman for quite sometime and that the eye he keeps covered contains a power that could be abused in the wrong hands. He would quickly find employment as bodyguard to a foreign merchant's daughter and come to the lands of Pokimono accompanying her. It is perhaps here that he will find the one his instincts tell him to protect permanently.

Edit 4/27/14: Zhang has since found the person his instincts tell him to guard. However, he has gained a scar in the process of busting her out from imprisonment and now keeps his bangs down to cover it.
